Today we were picked up at 10:45 by our driver Phillipich. We went straight to the baby house, no one was around when we got there and a caretaker let us in the room. So we waited… then one of Alex’s caregivers came in and said something to us… we figured out that she wanted the diapers and the clothes. We gave them to her, but were disappointed that we would not get to dress him. He came in a few minutes later looking as adorable as ever!!! In his new striped sweater and khaki pants! Surprisingly they are a little big on him! Which is good since that is the only size I brought him! He was somber at first and quiet, but after about 15 minutes he warmed up and got excited. He started playing on the floor with us, and banging the stacking cups together like jerry showed him. He is pretty coordinated and seems to like the sound he gets from doing that! After getting bored with that he headed toward the little chairs that are all lined up against the windows, he pulled himself up and started walking along them holding on for balance of course… Jerry followed him closely to be sure he didn’t fall. He would bang each chair with hi favorite rattle as he moved along! His favorite toy is a small red rattle that Jerry got at the Comdex convention last year. And we just threw it in at the last minute, because I found it. Of course they say that the first toy you give them becomes their favorite, because it is the first thing that is their very own!! So he holds that nearly the entire time we are there with him. We have to take it from him when he leaves so that he won’t loose it to another child. He does not like letting go of it either! His grip is so strong!!! He usually eats at 11:30 every morning. He is hungry by the end of our visit! They won’t let us give him snacks, because it might give him “tummy problems?” Bummer… we brought all of these yummy snacks too!
He has 8 teeth, and some scars on his head from some furuncles or something. I don’t know for sure what that is but I think it is a boil. His little ears are so cute, they are a little different from one another though… one is really soft and a little floppy! I love touching them. He likes getting his face wiped off. He smiles really big when you touch his face! Cover it with the blanket, pinch his cheeks, kiss his cheeks, or wash them off with a wipe, whatever he just smiles!! I can’t wait to lather him up with baby lotion so he smells like a baby instead of whatever the smell is that he smells like.
In the afternoon, when the caregiver brought him to us… she told us that we had to bring some tights for him to go under his pants. Tights!? Like girl tights!? Yes… ok. We will get some tonight. We did some more walking along the chairs and banging on things, Jerry got a tambourine down from a shelf and he loved that!!!! We think he might be a drummer, maybe like the one for Casting Crowns! (For you Melissa!!) Hahaha! He is very quiet most of the time right now, every once in a while he jabbers out something. Excited like! It is very cute. We are so sad to have to let go of him every time!!!! We just want to bring him home with us!
After our visit we went to the baby store and bought tights, one pair with teddy bears on them and the other a cool green color with bumble bees or something on them… then we headed to the Atrium Market, to get a few things, we bought a medium size skillet for the apartment, it was about $17!! Expensive!!! We came back to our apartment, Jerry had cereal and went to bed, I typed in the journal, until I was too tired. Then Jerry got up and made phone calls home to check on things…
