So the Bazaar closes at 6 so we did not find anything there! :) But we went downtown again to the Kid’s Café. They have a really good salad, with tomato, cucumber, cheese, parsley and olive oil. When we were there last we had the interpreter write down what we had, so all we had to do is show the waiter the piece of paper and hold up our fingers to show how many we wanted! Then we figured out how to let him know we wanted some ice cream. The menu is printed on paper with Disney characters, somewhere in the book we found a picture of an ice cream cone, (like the ones from McDonald’s) we showed him that and then we asked them what was their favorite, he said chocolate and the girl at the counter said vanilla! Who knows what else they had, we didn’t care, we were happy. So we tried their ice cream. It was fun! After we left there we went looking for the Chigala hotel, we hear they have a buffet and their food is the best in town. We had not been able to find it before, so we thought we would keep looking for it, so that when we were hungry again, we could just go straight there! We finally found it and came home for the night.
This morning, we still had no hot water, so we boiled pan full after pan full and poured it into the tub so we could take baths this morning… It felt good to get clean!
Today we were met at the babyhouse by Aliya, sister of Assyia. Aliya is also an interpreter for WPA. She is very bubbly and laughs a lot. She told us that Natasha was still not back and that she would be our interpreter until Natasha comes back on Thursday. Aliya is the interpreter for the other 2 couples that are here right now visiting children at the other babyhouse. But she has time to help us out for a while. She let the caregivers know that we were there and she had to go and be with the other couples for their morning visit, so we got actual alone time with Alex, with no one to distract him. He was happy to see us, and wanted to just sit on us and play quietly for a little while. So we did. We decided to give him the vitamins that we brought for him, they are liquid and we just had to give him 1ml, they smell terrible I think, but I tasted it and it wasn’t as bad as it smells. So we got him to open up and in went the stuff. He didn’t really care for it, but he took it and finally swallowed it all, making faces the whole time. Then we thought he did such a good job that we would give him a snack and then we would play. That worked really well. He was happy and giggly the rest of the visit, until he bit me and I had to get after him a little. I told him no, no biting. Yeah, like he can understand that. Well, he apparently got the point because we could tell he felt bad. His little mouth turned down and I saw a little quiver… But as fast as it came, it was gone and he went back to his happy, wild little self. He tried to bite me the other day, when he wanted his snack, too, so we will see if he remembers that biting is unacceptable… He is still very quiet, except for the occasional outburst, which is just some loud voice noises, and of course the mandatory banging of stacking cups together! He is no longer interested in walking next to the chairs, he prefers to sit on us or by us and just play. That is nice though too. He loves to lunge at us, with a huge smile and laughs (hopefully we catch him every time)!!! It is the cutest thing! Of course he is still trying to get the cameras, but we try to keep him too busy to think about them. We will have to pick him up an old one from Good Will or something when we get home. Haha! Jerry has started putting him up above his head and dropping him down, he loves that he just giggles and giggles!!! He is also really ticklish under his chin, but Jerry can’t seem to get the right spot, so that is my laugh button. :) We love that he is just getting happier and happier all the time. We think he loves us! When it was time to go his caregiver came and got him. We blew him kisses all the way to his door. He is in Group 3. We met up with the other couple that is visiting in our baby house, They are from Mt. Pleasant, MI. I actually emailed with them a couple times last year, and they were expecting to travel at any time then, unfortunately it took a year for them to be able to come here to find their boy! They are using the same agency as the other couple we met up with on the plane. But we are glad they are here, and in our babyhouse!! We want to spend some more time with them since we live in the same state and all!
Aliya met us at the Bazaar after our visit and walked with us through the clothing, shoes, tools, and house wares, etc. sections. Good Cow!! There were so many shoes! We just might have to shop for some. Jerry looked through all the tools and building supplies. It was fun, we bought a hair dryer for me and a pair of tights for Alex. The tights weren’t as nice as the ones we bought the other day though, but we will see how they work. We came back to the apartment, checked our email and heated up some left over pasta for lunch. Then we sat in bed with our covers pulled up to our chins, because it was so cold in here, writing out our questions for Alex’s doctor at the baby house in Alex’s book Aunt Tissiana made him! Finally we headed out for our second visit of the day with our baby!
We cleaned out the baby’s bag before we left, he isn’t playing with all the toys anyways. We were tired of carting all of them with us every time! :) Our bag was getting too heavy anyways. So we put in a new toy, the ‘fridge farm from leapfrog. He enjoyed it, he did a little jig, mostly just rocking back and forth a little to the sings. What he loved was the box; he tried to chew on it, and the farm animals, he chewed on them too! We try to get him to stand at the chairs to practice standing. He was standing there with a half a farm animal in each hand and there was one more laying on the chair, we looked over and he was bending down with his mouth wide open trying to get the 3rd one in his mouth. Did I mention, he likes to hoard his new toys? That was the funniest thing he has done this entire time!!! We laughed so hard, then we decided again that he is really smart!! He couldn’t quite get it on his own, so we picked it up and held it for him; he bit onto it and kept it there for a while. He is so funny! He likes to chew on the hard stuff, not the soft teethers that we brought him. We gave him a snack and when he was hungry he tried to crawl over to Aliya, who was translating our questions to Russian for the doctor. We had to bring him back several times and give him a few more of those puff things. At least he always leaves us smiling, knowing he is going to eat dinner, but he looks at us until he goes through his door.
This evening Jerry made a few phone calls home and we had soup for dinner. I wrote the blog and who knows what else we will do!? :)
